OUR HISTORY

Surviving the Great Depression in rural Minnesota taught Lon Musolf that survival meant creating your own destiny. So, in 1953, Lon mustered up his courage and gathered up the $300 his wife Dona had been saving from his earnings as an apprentice installer/finisher and began doing business.

Over the next 33 years he built up his reputation one floor at a time – all the while weathering the storms that life and an everchanging economy inevitably bring. Then in 1986, determined to grow with the changing times and to provide well for his family, he sold his installation business and started a new venture: Lon Musolf Distributing.

Today, Musolf’s Wood Flooring is the largest hardwood flooring distributor in the Upper Midwest. Now, more than 65 years later, there are hardwood products worthy of bearing Lon’s very distinguished name.
